A MARSH DRINK

A MARSH DRINK

In this photo, Perri fetches water in a marsh alongside cattle and sheep. The marsh was evaporating and smelled strongly of animal feces and rot. His community is actually lucky to live near deep (albeit contaminated) wells, and therefore the villagers rarely resort to drinking marsh water. This is not the case for many in the Azawak, that may live many hours from a well. They happily drink polluted marsh water, simply pleased to have the liquid to drink, cook, and bathe in.
