(February 5, 2018) Ariane Kirtley speaks with France 24 journalist Armelle Charrier on the show L’Entretien about the adverse affects of climate change and water insecurity on people’s lives.
In the desertic Azawak region of Niger and Mali, the rains have drastically decreased. Twenty years ago the season lasted 5 months. Now, rain falls for one or two months. In this interview, Ariane discusses how, in areas already plagued by very difficult geopolitical situations, climate change not only causes severe water scarcity but also affects people’s safety.
