The Caregiver
This mother gives her daughter a sip of clean water for the first time. I can only imagine the sheer joy and pride she must feel to be able to offer this present. And on the contrary, the deep sadness she experienced when she did not have water to offer in the past. Offering your child a gift as pure and essential as water, or, for instance, the gift of quality time such as lending a caring ear to listen to your child explain his or her world as he or she lives it, feels it, sees it… these are the real presents of love. And yet these gifts are somehow sometimes the most challenging to give. Today, I dedicate this post to all the mothers out there that do their very best to offer the simplest presents of love to their children, thereby contributing to their livelihood, personal growth, and self esteem.
